Video: Quetta’s goat thieves get creative

Eid ul Azha is approaching fast, and everyone wants to have an animal that really fulfills the spirit of sacrifice.

While most people have to make time to go to a cattle market, bargain with a seller and then take an animal home, it seems some people just prefer to find more convenient ways to do things.

No visit to the market, no bargaining. If you like an animal you can just take it. That’s what some people did in Quetta.

CCTV footage showed a unique incident of goat theft in Quetta.

Near the Burma hotel on Sardar Munir Mengal road, a white pick up truck carried two goats, presumably on the way back from a cattle market. But it also carried a person determined to make off with one of them.

The person, already aboard the vehicle when the video began, had his face covered with dark cloth. The video shows him casually cradling a dark brown goat, and just leaping off the vehicle.

Obviously, a crime is only as good as its get-away strategy. And these thieves had a good one. As soon as the first man leapt off the vehicle, a motorcycle draws up next to him and with another man whose face is covered.

Together, they make off in the common sense direction: away from the one the truck was travelling in.
