Dubai could be the centre of a new set of political deliberations, as leaders from the ruling Pakistan People’s Party and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz set to arrive in the city.
PMLN supremo Nawaz Sharif has already arrived in Dubai from London and was reportedly accompanied by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif who was returning from a global summit in Paris.
Nawaz’s daughter and party chief organiser Maryam Nawaz has also reached Dubai from Lahore. The arrivals were confirmed by party spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb.
Reports said that PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari would also be arrive in Dubai in a few days and would also be accompanied by Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
While nothing is officially announced, reports said a meeting could take place between the leadership of the two parties where caretaker setups and election dates could be discussed.
Ties between the two parties, which seemed like they were deteriorating in the aftermath of the budget, have seen a restoration in recent days.
Bilawal told the National Assembly on Friday, that he was thankful to PM Shehbaz and ‘uncle’ Ishaq Dar for fulfilling pledges made for Sindh flood relief in the budget. Zardari, who recently returned after an eye surgery in Dubai, has floated the idea of a charter of economy backed by ‘all political forces’.
