A terrorist believed to have masterminded the attack on a mosque in Peshawar’s police lines has been killed Aaj News reported on Tuesday.
Mukamil Shah, aka Sarbakaf Mohmand, was killed under mysterious circumstances with signs pointing to a internal power struggle within the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He was the the TTP’s commander for Zhob.
Sarbakaf belonged to the Jamat-ul-Ahrar which had recently merged with the TTP. However, reports said that the differences over dividing area of operations led to a continuous tension between the two groups.
Social media had recently been filled with rumours of Sarbakaf’s poisoning. He was allegedly poisoned by Noor Wali Mehsud’s faction, with whom Sarbakaf was known to be in a power struggle with.
Sarbakaf was involved in multiple terrorist activites, most notably the attack on the mosque in Peshawar’s police line area in January this year, which left over 80 policemen dead.
