The place where polling for Karachi’s mayor and deputy mayor will be elected was changed one day ahead of the election on Wednesday.
The election was supposed to be held in the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation but has now been moved to the Arts Council auditorium.
Officials said that the location was changed due to the rain forecast in connection with cyclone Biparjoy which is rapidly approaching Karachi.
The Election Commission of Pakistan has also announced how the election will be conducted on June 15.
According to ECP, 366 elected members will be allowed into the Arts Council auditorium and doors will be closed for entry at 10.30 am.
Votes will be counted by a show of hands and the winner will be declared through a simple majority.
Tough competition is expected between Jamaat-e-Islami’s Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman and Pakistan People’s Party’s Murtaza Wahab.
