Man accused of rape claims he was honey trapped

A man accused of rape in Bahawalpur has claimed that he was actually the victim of a honey trap gang.

Muhammad Jahanzeb made the claims after a rape case was filed against him in Cantt Police Station.

Jahanzeb said that the complainant in the case, Kulsoom Bibi, is actually the head of a honey trap gang that has multiple victims in the city.

According to details, the lady allegedly befriends men in the city by contacting them through social media or their phones, ultimately luring them to houses or hotels for a private meeting.

However, the women’s accomplices are already at the place of meeting where the men are allegedly beaten up, stripped naked and recorded on video. The lured men are also threatened that they will be implicated in false cases if they do not respond to the blackmailing tactics.

The men are then blackmailed for money which they pay up to avoid false cases or to protect their ‘honour’.

A policeman named Muhammad Mushtaq is also allegedly part of the gang.

Jahanzeb has claimed that after being falsely nominated in a rape case, he gave the all the evidence he had about the gang, including videos, to the police. However, he said that police was not acting on his complaint but was trying to arrest him in the rape case and had raided his house multiple times.

Jahanzeb has asked the province’s chief minister and inspector general, as well as the city’s DPO to take notice of the incident.
