Tremors were felt in areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit Baltistan when a 6.0 magnitude earthquake jolted parts of the country on Sunday morning.
The epicentre of the earthquake was at the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
In a statement, the department said that the earthquake occurred at 10:50am and struck at a depth of 223km.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s PDMA also reported that earthquake tremors were felt in various districts of the province, however, their control room did not receive any reports of casualties so far.
“The public should report the untoward incident to PDMA’s control room at 1700,” said PDMA DG Jannat Gul Afridi.
Meanwhile, NDTV reported that mild earthquake shocks were felt in New Delhi and neighbouring areas.
