The Federal Government has added the names of more than 70 people including PTI chief Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Begum, on the Exit Control List.
The decision was made on the receommendations of police officials. Being named on the list will effectively mean that the PTI leaders will not be able to leave the country.
The list of people put on the ECL also includes Asad Umar, Asad Qaisar, Qasim Suri, Murad Saeed, Sheikh Rasheed, Ali Muhammad Khan and Shaheryar Afridi among others.
On the other hand, police sources said that the arrests of 27 people from the twin cities who were responsible for providing financing the PTI could also be arrested soon.
The list of financers was created by the police and sent to the ministry of interior. Action will only be taken after approval from the ministry.
Sources said that the list includes several union council level leaders and also includes some contractors.
While approval from the ministry is awaited, Special Branch has been tasked with monitoring the people nominated on the list. Several of these peole are alredy in hiding, while three have already left the party.
