The meteorological department has said that the intensity of heat in Karachi is expected to decrease from Sunday, May 14.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 28 °C with 68% humidity on Saturday morning. The MET office said that the maximum temperature can go up to 36-38 °C. Winds from the western direction are blowing at a speed of 15 kilometers per hour.
Karachi and other regions of Sindh have been experiencing a heatwave since May 10.
The Met Office forecasted scorching heat in central and upper Sindh on May 8 and 9 and predicted an increase in temperatures in Pakistan’s southern areas from May 10-13.
Chief meteorologist, Dr Sardar Sarfraz said that the temperature had gone up as high as 45 °C in some areas of Sindh, while all other cities and villages of the province are also in the grip of the heatwave.
The heatwave is considered a major threat to Pakistan, Jacobabad is rated as the hottest city in Asia and one of the hottest cities in the world.
