One of the most wanted suspected terrorists of banned terrorist organizations Al-Qaeda and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan Iqbal alias Bali Khiara was killed in an encounter on Thursday, police said.
Khiara, who led his own faction of militants, was killed near Dera Ismail Khan’s Fateh Mor in an exchange of fire with police, according to a statement.
The government had announced a bounty of Rs10.5 million on his head.
He was wanted in 26 cases of terrorism and target killing by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab police.
At least 21 of the cases were registered in the Dera Ismail Khan of KP while another 25 were registered by Multan police.
According to DI Khan police officials, Khiara was also involved in the recent District Headquarters Hospital Trauma Center suicide bombing and an attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team.
