Police raid Parvez Elahi’s house in Lahore

The Lahore police raided PTI leader Chaudhry Parvez Elahi’s house after Friday midnight, it emerged. Television footage showed the police managed to barge into the house and the armoured vehicle entered the house.

“Extremely shameful. This is happening inside a province where a caretaker government has finished its term and has become illegal. They must be stopped, and must avoid further violations of human rights!” the PTI said in a tweet.

Sources told Aaj News that the police detained Parvez’s employees. Footage showed police climbing over the walls of the residence. It showed that stones were pelted at policemen from Pervez’s house.

In February, Parvez joined the PTI along with ten other former MPAs of the Pakistan Muslim Leaque-Quaid. PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain dismissed Parvez from his party post and terminated his basic membership.

Almost an hour ago before the raid, Parvez’s son Moonis Elahi claimed that the Punjab police were at their residence to arrest his father in a case for which he got bail on Friday.

“His bail hearing was covered by all media outlets. PM Imran Khan is absolutely right: Rule of Law has ended in Pakistan,” he said in a tweet.

Sources added that police closed the road in front of Parvez’s house. Personnel of the Anti-Riots Force and anti-corruption officers were present at the site.
