Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has postponed its election campaign in Punjab. It was set to start in Lahore from today (Monday).
The public meeting at Liberty Chowk has also been postponed.
According to Azhar Mashwani, a spokesman for party chairman Imran Khan, the election campaign will now formally launch in Punjab on April 25 – PTI’s 27th foundation day.
Azhar Mashwani tweeted that all provincial assembly ticket holders will rally in their respective constituencies. PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s speech will be screened during these rallies.
On Sunday, PTI announced that its’ Punjab election campaign will launch on April 24, Monday.
The party’s Secretary General Asad Umar tweeted, “Tehreek-e-Insaf will formally start the election campaign from tomorrow in all constituencies of Punjab.”
PTI workers from PP-110 Faisalabad and PP-150 Lahore protested outside Imran Khan’s house in Zaman Park on Monday, complaining that deserving candidates had not been given tickets in the two constituencies.
The workers said that old PTI faces who had stuck through tough times with Imran Kahn has not been given tickets, inclusing Qaiser Awan of PP-150. They said that tickets should be reviewed and awarded justly.
Another PTI worker, Raja Yawar from Jhelum, has already announced that he will contest against PTI since he was denied a ticket.
