It was not the day of Babar Azam with the bat, but despite that, he managed to equal great Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s record.
The Pakistan all-format captain wasn’t up to the make with the bat, which he is generally known for. However, Pakistan’s convincing victory against New Zealand, helped him equal the records of the prolific former Indian captain.
This was Babar’s 41st victory as a captain, the same number of matches India managed to win under Dhoni’s reign.
He now needs two more victories to become the most successful T20I captain in history.
Moreover, Babar also became only the third Pakistani player to play 100 T20Is after Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez. Malik has represented Pakistan in 124 matches, while Hafeez has played 119 games for the Men in Green.
He also received a special Pakistan jersey with 100 on the back from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Najam Sethi.
