The Kashmore police registered on Monday a second FIR in the Ajmal Sawand murder, this time against 46 suspects for attacking the police, at Ghora Ghat police station.
The FIR was registered on behalf of the State under sections 324 (attempted murder), 353 (assaulting an officer), 440, 148 and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code and Anti-Terrorism Act. A first FIR was registered for extortion.
SSP Irfan Ali Samo said that 41 known and 5 unknown suspects are nominated in the FIR.
Prof. Ajmal Sawand was killed on April 6 by armed Sundrani tribesmen near Ghora Ghat police station over what was initially stated to be an honour killing dispute.
The second FIR says Constables Asad Ali, Abdul Sattar and Sibghat Ali were on patrol in a police van when they received information that three suspects (including Karam Ullah and his son Bakhsh Ali Sundrani) were sitting at Saqib Ali Sundrani’s house. When the police tried to arrest them, around forty suspects with advanced weapons opened fire on them.
SSP Kashmore Irfan Ali Samo said the nominated men in the FIR are Rahib, Yar Muhammad Alias Yaaru, Mashooq son of Pyaro, Rano, Mahindro, Wahid Bakhsh alias Wadhu, Saifal, Sachal, Bachal, Usman, Hameer Khan, Iqrar, Mir (son of Murad Ali), Mushtaq, Imdad, Muhammad Paryal, Mir Ahmed, Bakht Ali, Dilawar Muhamamd Murad, Wakeel, Muhammad Qasim, Ali Nawaz, Kaleem Ullah, Abdul Khaliq, Mashooq, Mithan, Sahib Khan, Zulfiqar, Mehboob.
Also, Ali Gohar, Niaz, Saifal, Aijaz Ali were carrying Kalashnikovs, while other suspects Mubarak Ali, Zahid Ali, Safar had sticks.
The SSP told reporters that IG Ghulam Nabi Memon is set to arrive at 4pm to lead a meeting on arresting the killers.
