Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz Chief Organiser Maryam Nawaz once again took up arms against the judiciary on Wednesday, saying that the current crisis in Pakistan began when the courts let Imran Khan off the hook.
“Imran Khan was not punished even though courts certified that he had violated the constitution,” Maryam told a public rally in Khudian.
She added the decisions of the country’s biggest court were being made on the whims of the wives and children of the judges. She added that the children of Justice Saqib Nisar and Justice Asif Saeed Khosa had clapped and cheered from the Supreme Court’s galleries when Nawaz Sharif was disqualified.
“Pakistan is not a joyland for the entertainment of your families,” she told the judges.
She added that courts were ‘quick’ to respond to constitutional crises when Imran Khan was involved. She even said that a knock from Imran was considered a knock from the constitution by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial.
She added that the cort was deciding cases not on the basis of constitution but because of ‘trucks’ in an apparent reference to Fawad Chaudhry’s leaked audio.
Maryam also addressed the chief justice and said that the queues people were forming to get free flour were long but there longer lines of people waiting to get justice from courts.
She also commented on the subject of election funding that had come up during court proceedings in the election delay case. She said that the country had Rs20 billion to conduct elections, but not Rs60 billion to conduct the elections thrice as separate elections would have to be conducted for KP, Punjab and then the National Assembly.
“This is a matter of country of Rs220 million not a kid’s game,” she said.
She also said that elections, whenever they are held, will be won by the PMLN. “Will Imran Khan accept election results when PMLN wins?” she asked the crowd.
