Bowling coach Umar Gul has praised Pakistan bowlers despite the Men in Green suffered their first-ever defeat against Afghanistan.
The young Pakistan side only managed to score 92/9 in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, early blows from the Pakistan bowling attack were not enough as Afghanistan reach home with six wickets to spare in 17.5 overs.
“There was a positive for us today,” said Gul while speaking to the Pakistan Cricket Board. “Our bowlers did really well while defending a low total. I am satisfied with our bowlers’ performance. They bowled on good line and lengths as per the plan given to them.”
Pakistan Super League sensation Ihsanullah was the star of the show with the ball as he bagged two wickets on debut. Imad Wasim and Naseem Shah shared a wicket apiece.
Umar believes that young players will learn from this experience.
“It was first match for youngsters. They definitely learnt from it. Conditions here were different from Pakistan where these players performed in PSL 8. I hope they will learn from their mistakes and come back strong in next games,” he concluded.
The two teams will meet again at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on March 26 from the second T20I of the three-match series.
