The Sindh Cabinet has decided to establish a Sindh Emergency Service Rescue 1122 for which a draft bill was presented, according to a press handout on Tuesday.
Sindh does not have a dedicated Emergency Response service and only relies on charitable organizations and NGOs.
The functions of Rescue 1122 include
The Rescue Service headquarters would be at City Warden, KMC, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi.
Karachi would have rescue stations at:
Hyderabad’s rescue station would be at Thandi Sarak, Larkana’s at CMC hospital, in Mirpurkhas at the PDMA Office, in Sukkur at PDMA Warehouse.
A New Uniform Cadre Rescue Service was introduced in the province. Two batches of Rescue Service Personal, comprising 405 cadets, have been trained at the National Rescue Academy, Punjab.
A complete range of Fire Fighting, Ambulatory, Search & Rescue, Water Rescue, and Animal Rescue shall be provided through trained uniform personnel.
Command & Control of Rescue 1122 is fully functional and responding to emergencies in the Karachi and Larkana divisions and is partially functional in the other nine districts.
The cabinet approved the draft Sindh Emergency Rescue Service 1122 Bill and referred it to the assembly.
