Unidentified gunmen shot dead a tribal elder and six others accompanying him in Balochistan’s Zhob district on Thursday.
The attack also left one person injured.
Two vehicles carrying Ahmed Khan Kibzai and his comrades came under attack in Murgha Kibzai area, officials said.
The attackers fired indiscriminately on the two cars after first targeting one of them with a rocket. The car caught fire and at least two bodies were burnt beyond recognition.
Footage obtained by Aaj News showed the charred remains of one of the cars and the bodies strewn around the other car as people covered them with sheets.
The dead were identified as Ahmed Khan Kibazai, Abdul Wahid, Abdul Mannan, Fazlur Rehman, Rajab Din, Mohammad Sultan, and Nek Mohammad. Two of them were Kibzai’s brothers, family sources told Aaj News.
Zhob is located around 120km from the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Kibzai was on a routine visit to the area under his influence.
The attackers fled before Levies arrived at the scene.
