Pakistan legend Shahid Afridi was the centre of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) trolling after he unknowingly joked about a ‘plaster’ during Shoaib Akhtar’s YouTube video.
The clip from Shoaib Akhtar’s video went viral on social media a couple of days ago where the former Pakistan captain was trying to troll his teammate.
“The other day, Shoaib Akhtar in an interview said that if he was at Shaheen [Shah Afridi]‘s place I would have played this and that…I said no doubt, that Shoaib Akhtar has endured the pain most for bowling or I can say it for Pakistan. What I mean to say is he had taken so many injections, that now he can’t walk properly….and plaster is not coming off.”
However, this plaster joke from Afridi didn’t receive any appreciation from PTI supporters, who believed that the all-rounder was trying to take a dig at their leader Imran Khan.
Now, Shahid Afridi has issued a clarification on Shoaib Akhtar’s YouTube stating that there was no intention to target anyone. The video also features Sohail Tanvir and Misbah ul Haq.
“We are getting embarrassed in your YouTube videos,” said Afridi. “We were shooting for your [Shoaib] YouTube video and I was talking about you and all the criticism came on me. I was talking about your injury.”
“Where did the plaster come from?” asked Akhtar. “I had it on about two days ago…which I removed it.”
“Because of your YouTube video, I got trolled,” said Shahid with a huge smile on his face.
“Shahid Afridi…over 250k people watched that video on my platform until now,” Akhtar said.
“I was critisied this much,” said Afridi laughing. “Why do people take this the wrong way? Your plaster was removed a couple of days ago… and all the criticism on me why is that?”
“Shahid had no intention like that… Shahid is a very nonpolitical guy,” the pacer clarified. “He was not trying to hit out anyone. He was talking about my plaster. I usually had it on, or Sohail [Tanvir] is usually wrapped like a mummy. We were pointing that out.”
“Shahid…he was not pointing towards Imran [Khan] bhai or someone else. He was targeting me.”
“Misbah enjoyed the most. Lala, you didn’t know what came out of your mouth. I asked what did I say? He said that people will start criticising you,” Afridi said.
“I was trying to assure you that your intention was not that,” Misbah said.
“Who will clear that to PTI supporters?” Shahid Afridi asked.
