Maula Jatt’s gandasa auctioned for $50,000

The Legend of Maula Jatt took the world by storm when it released last October. But the movie is selling more than just movie tickets.

One of the gandasas used in TLOMJ was recently auctioned at a charity event in Canada and it fetched a whooping $50,000.

Fawad Khan, who played Maula Jatt in the movie, was present at the event along with Meekal Zulfiqar and Abrar ul Haq.

Bidding for Maula Jatt’s weapon started at $5,000 and kept going and going until sold at $50,000.

That amounts to almost Rs15 million in Pakistan.

The proceeds from the event will go towards helping cancer patients.

The gandasa, which is basically a long aze or halberd, was also the title of the Urdu short story which set off the original Maula Jatt movie released in 1979.

TLOMJ is a new angle on the old story that retains most of the original characters and some plot points, but tells the story in a more modern, intense and action-packed way.
