If you are a Quetta Gladiators fan and wondering how they can still qualify for the playoff, then you are at the right place. We have narrowed down three scenarios, which will keep Sarfaraz Ahmed’s men alive in the competition.
After suffering a two-wicket defeat against Islamabad United, Gladiators made things even more difficult for them. But, their victory over Karachi Kings at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, have kept a glimmer of hope alive for them.
So how they can still compete against the top four teams?
The first scenario is very simple, win all of their remaining matches and if Peshawar Zalmi lose all four of their remaining PSL game, Quetta will advance. In this case, Quetta will end up with 8 points while Peshawar would be stuck on 6 points.
It is a bit complicated. If the Babar Azam-led Zalmi win one of their remaining four games, then Gladiators again have to win all of their remaining matches but with a better net run rate or margin.
In this case, both teams will end up having eight points and the playoffs qualification would be decided on run rate.
Lastly and it seems very unlikely by judging the form of Multan Sultans, Quetta can still make it through to the playoff if the 2021 champions lose all of their games.
You might be wondering how, that is because, Sultans are at the third spot at the table, and if Quetta win all of their remaining games with a good run rate, while Sultans somehow manage to lose their last three games, then the spot in the playoffs will be decided on the run rate between the two sides.
It is worth mentioning here that Gladiators are currently sitting at the bottom of the table with four points. They will face Peshawar Zalmi and Multan Sultans in their remaining matches.
