Israeli police staged a dramatic rescue of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s wife Sara after anti-government protestors surrounded a hair salon in Jerusalem.
Thousands took to the streets in Tel Aviv against the government and its plans to curb the judiciary.
However, Sara had decided to get her haircut in a salon in the Israeli capital - something she quickly learned was a mistake.
A huge number of protestors surrounded the building, chanting: ‘The country is burning and Sara is getting a haircut!’
Videos on social media showed hundreds of people outside the building, screaming and blowing horns.
Several hours later, Police announced that they had successfully ‘rescued’ Sara Netanyahu. She was transported in a waiting vehicle under a heavily armed guard.
Netanyahu later took to Twitter where he posted a photo of him embracing his wife, saying she had returned home safely. ‘The anarchy has to stop,’ he said. ‘This can lead to the loss of life.’
