Islamabad Police have begun investigations into the death of two men allegedly involved in the F9 Park rape case in an ‘encounter’.
A three-member team has been constituted to look into the incident. The team includes the assistant commissioner, the superintendent of police (Saddar) and a superintendent of the special branch.
The district magistrate has sent a memo to the team saying that complaints have been received from the families of the men killed in the alleged encounter. The men have been identified as Nawab Khan and Iqbal Khan.
The memo has asked the team to thoroughly investigate the incident so those who are responsible can be punished.
The two men were killed in an alleged encounter in Islamabad’s D-12 sector on Thursday night. The police initially said the men had been killed after they fired on a checkpost.
However, an FIR later said that four men had approached the checkpoint and had fired on the police. It said that the two men had fallen from their bikes and kille dby fire from their two other accomplices, who managed to get away.
Police had later said that the two men were involved in the F9 Park rape case and had also been wanted in multiple other crimes.
However, videos of the families had emerged in which they alleged that the two men had been picked up by the police from their homes the same night when they were killed.
