The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has decided to send the purported audio clip of former Punjab chief minister Pervez Elahi with his lawyers to Lahore for a forensic test, sources in the agency told Aaj News.
The investigation would enter the next stage after the forensic report, they added, which would be sent to the interior ministry. If proven right, sources said that a case would be registered.
The development comes a day after Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah’s press conference in which he played the alleged audio clip and accused Pervez Elahi of “managing” the top court.
In the same vein, he said that if the forensic was true then it should be sent to Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial and the judicial committee so that the “sanctity and respect of the judiciary could be restored.”
