Middle-order batter Iftikhar Ahmed has said that his innings against India was the best knock of his career.
The right-hander scored 51 off 34 deliveries against India at the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, when Pakistan lost both openers early in the innings.
“I always have this in my mind that, I have to perform against India,” he told Aaj News. “That was the opportunity I was waiting for in Melbourne and I think it was my best innings of the career.”
He is the only player to lift the Pakistan Super League (PSL) title thrice. First with Islamabad United, then with Quetta Gladiators and last with Karachi Kings.
He is optimistic to become PSL champions once again with the Quetta Gladiators.
The 32-year-old issued a warning for the PSL franchises when he smashed Peshawar Zalmi’s Wahab Riaz for six maximums in the last over of the exhibition match at the Bugti Cricket Stadium.
He believes that it was a unique feat as it can’t be planned.
“This is a unique feat in world cricket, no matter who the bowler is,” he said. “Wahab bhai is one of the best bowlers in the world, and hitting him for six maximums is not an easy task, but it happened in cricket.”
“This is a proud moment for me. You cannot plan to hit six maximums against any bowler or a side.It can only happen if the bowler is under pressure,” he concluded.
The Gladiators will start their campaign against Multan Sultans on February 15 at the Multan Cricket Stadium.
