Australia all-rounder Ben Cutting has praised the quality of cricket in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as he is looking forward to representing Karachi Kings this year.
This will be his fourth PSL outing and the first for King, the team he “admires” the most. Like him, his wife, Erin Holland, will be part of the league as one of the presenters.
“This is my fifth visit to Pakistan, and I think it’s Aaron’s fifth or sixth as well,” he told media on the sidelines. “It is because of the people we come here, the hospitality, culture, the standard of cricket is awesome here.”
The 36-year-old, who previously played for Quetta Gladiators (twice) and Peshawar Zalmi, is excited to play against Babar Azam.
“To be honest, I haven’t practiced with him [Babar] last season,” he said. “Obviously it’s a bit of a loss to Karachi, but yeah, we fill that gap very, very well and I’m excited to bowl against him.”
Commenting on the strengths of the 2020 champions, he said they have got enough firepower in the share of James Vince, Sharjeel Khan, and Shoaib Malik in the squad.
“We have got plenty of power this year, James Vince has come into the side, Sharjeel can smack them out of the park, and Shoaib Malik…experienced all-rounder, can hit them out of the part and bowl some handy overs and his jet in the field, so I think we got a very good team.”
Moreover, he said that it would be very tough to compete in the league because of quality squads.
“A lot of guys that haven’t been here and played the PSL always ask me what it’s like and the quality of cricket is second to none,” he said. “You know, every team has got three or four guys, who can bowl at 140/145, they’ve got excellent spinners and all batters can smack it out of the park.”
“So, it’s always going to be difficult as a bowler you know taking on your caliber of batters,” he concluded.
