A local court in Islamabad sent Fawad Chaudhry on a two-day physical remand, late on Wednesday after being brought from Lahore.
Chaudhry was handcuffed and his head covered with a white cloth as he was brought to the district court in F-8. A heavy contingent of security was placed around the court as PTI supporters thronged to show support for the arrested leader.
The prosecution asked for an eight-day remand but court only agreed to two days. Chaudhry was then moved to the CTD Center in Islamabad.
The PTI spokesperson was arrested from Lahore early on Wednesday morning for ‘threatening’ the ECP secretary. However, the original FIR was filed in Islamabad’s Kohsar police station so he was presented in Lahore’s Cantt court for a transit remand. Although PTI approached Lahore High Court against the arrest, Chaudhry could not be presented as police had already started moving with him to Islamabad.
Meanwhile, his wife posted a photo showing him in handcuffs saying that his spirit ‘is higher than the sky.’
The ECP is reportedly also preparing to proceed against him in a contempt of election commission case.
