The affair of Pervaiz Elahi being de-notified and then being reinstated as chief minister was over in a single day. From governor’s order, to chief secretary’s notification and then the hig courts order of conditional reinstatement,
But was Elahi in the dark until being denotified? New details have emerged that point to the contrary.
Governor Baligh ur Rehman ordered Elahi’s de-notification just after the day changed to Friday. But from that point on the chief minister was in the loop.
While speculations arose that the chief secretary was ‘pressured’ to issue the notificaiton of Elahi’s removal, sources say there was no pressure. In fact, the CM even met the chief secretary before the notification was issued.
The chief secretary is even reported to have consulted legal experts, but the CM directed him to follow procedure.
This led to him being de-notified and his cabinet being dissolved. However, the high court would reinstate him only a few hours later.
