Babar Azam hints at couple of changes in Karachi Test

Pakistan all-format captain Babar Azam on Friday hinted at couple of changes for the final Test against England.

The visitors lead the series 2-0 as both teams are now gearing up for the final Test at the National Bank Cricket Arena from December 17.

When asked about the playing XI and Azhar Ali’s inclusion in the final red-ball game, Babar refused to provide further details apart from informing about Imam ul Haq’s unavailability.

“First of all, I would like to congratulate Ajju bhai [Azhar Ali] for such a decorated career,” Babar told media. “His career is quite an inspiring thing for the youngsters and the performances he delivered throughout it and for us.”

He went on to add that Azhar was the senior player when he and others got the chance to represent Pakistan in Test cricket. “We learned a lot from him and gave us confidence.”

“He always backed players and brought positive energy to the dressing room,” Babar added. “We will decide [Playing XI] at night, so let’s see.”

With Imam ul Haq out from the final Test, Shan Masood, who is red-hot form with the bat, is expected to make his return in the longest format of the game as well.

However, with series already wrapped, the team management may give Azhar Ali a farewell match at the historic venue.

Moreover, Mohammad Wasim Jr, who is warming up the bench in the last two games, could be handed his maiden Test cap.
