Gold prices surge to another historic high amid growing economic worries

ISLAMABAD: The gold prices surged to another historic high on Friday as investors sought safety in the safe-haven metal amid growing worries about the nation’s economic situation getting worse.

According to All Sindh Sarafa Jewellers Association, the price of per tola gold increased by Rs.700 and was traded at Rs.167,100 against its sale at Rs.166,400 the previous day.

As the precious metal often reflects world prices, which have been under pressure this year as a result of the US Federal Reserve’s aggressive tightening efforts, the gold surge is particularly notable.

The price of gold in the international market increased by US $16 and was traded at US $1,800, against its sale at $1,784, the association reported.

The price of per tola silver increased by Rs.30 to Rs.1,890 whereas that of ten gram silver went up by Rs.25.72 to Rs.1,620.37.
