Kieron Pollard retires from IPL

West Indies great Kieron Pollard has announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League (IPL) after spending over a decade with Mumbai Indians.

The charismatic all-rounder won the five IPL titles with Mumbai Indians, where he played 189 games, scoring 3412 runs at an astonishing strike-rate of 147.32. He also scored 16 fifties and claimed 69 wickets in the T20 tournament.

He announced his retirement from the league in a heartfelt note stating that he cannot see himself playing against Mumbai Indians.

The former Windies captain is part of a small set of players who played for only one franchise over their entire IPL careers.

The group includes Virat Kohli (Royal Challengers Bangalore from 2008), Sunil Narine (Kolkata Knight Riders from 2011), Jasprit Bumrah (Mumbai Indians from 2013) and Lasith Malinga (who had two stints at Mumbai).
