Security guard shots dead child beggar in Karachi

An eight-year-old child beggar was shot dead by a security guard for begging outside a restaurant in Boat Basin area of ​​Karachi on Sunday.

According to the police, the deceased child was a beggar and was identified as Mohammad Umar.

The shooting incident took place at the popular Food Street in Boat Basin, which is crowded with beggars, including children.

A security guard deployed at a nearby pizza shop asked the child to stop begging there. After that, the guard shot fire at the child, killing him on the spot.

The accused threw his body behind the Ziauddin Hospital in the limits of Jackson police station and fled.

The family of the slain child went to police station along with the body to register their complaint.

The father of the deceased child told the police that the child was selling toys outside the hotel when the security guard shot him dead. He demanded the immediate arrest of the security guard involved in the child’s killing.

“Umar was selling goods with his younger brother and my son was shot in front of his younger brother,” the deceased child’s mother said.

She said that she cried for her son outside the hotel for two hours but after two hours his body was found in the garbage dump.

Administrator Karachi took notice of the incident

Administrator Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC), Sindh Government Spokesperson and Law Advisor Sindh Barrister Murtaza Wahab has taken notice of the incident and has sought a report from the police authorities.

Wahab has directed the police authorities to arrest the accused immediately.

Wahab said that a case has been registered against the security guard, adding that no one would be allowed to take the law into their hands.
