ISLAMABAD/RIYADH: Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Muhammad bin Salman’s visit to Pakistan has been postponed, sources told Aaj News Saturday.
The Saudi prince, also known by his initials MBS, was expected to visit Pakistan, which was also confirmed by the Saudi Embassy, in the third week of November. His special security team was expected to visit the country to review the security in place for the visit.
The visit was part of the crown prince’s visit to Asia, which included trips to India and South Korea. Sources said that his Asia trip has been postponed.
Diplomatic sources in Riyadh informed Aaj News that the new date for the trip would be announced soon.
Meanwhile, sources in Islamabad said that the postponement was due to Muhammad bin Salman’s participation in the G20 summit in Bali, Indonesia, on November 15-16.
In the visit to Pakistan initially scheduled for November 21, Prince Mohammed bin Salman was expected to announce an additional bailout package of $4.2 billion to Pakistan.
Apart from this, several other agreements were likely to be finalized during the visit.
It included an agreement to establish an oil refinery, under which Saudi Arabia and China would jointly invest $10 billion to set up a refinery in Gwadar.
