ISLAMABAD: The federal government has issued a diplomatic passport to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Sources told Aaj News that the passport was issued after an approval from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It would be valid for five years.
Sources added that the passport was processed by local passport office and immigration authorities after which it was dispatched to the elder Sharif.
The previous government led by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf had canceled Nawaz’s diplomatic passport on account of him being a proclaimed offender after his conviction in an assets beyond means case.
He was issued a normal passport earlier this year.
