Attack on Imran Khan: PML-N’s Imtiaz Bagri arrested

Chaudhry Imtiaz Azhar Bagri, who threatened Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairperson Imran Khan during the convention in Wazirabad, was arrested by the police in connection with the firing incident during PTI long march.

The PML-N leader was arrested Wednesday from Wazirabad’s Maulana Zafar Ali Khan Chowk.

Imran Khan was injured after the ‘Haqeeqi Azadi March’ came under fire in Wazirabad. One person was killed while multiple PTI leaders were also injured.

The PTI has accused Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah and a senior military officer of being behind the attack.

Multiple PTI workers have shared a ‘screen recording’ of the Facebook profiles of the attacker Naveed Maher and Imtiaz Bagri with claims that the duo knew each other before the attack was carried out on Khan.

Several others posted a purported video of Bagri wherein they say he threatened to attack the former prime minister.

Earlier in the day, the Punjab cabinet’s committee on law and order decided to set up a Joint Investigation Team to investigate the assassination attempt on Imran Khan

Additional IG Highways Patrol Riaz Nazeer Gara will head the JIT, and representatives of other relevant agencies will be part of the team.
