Pakistani blockbuster The Legend of Maula Jatt made history by amassing more than one billion rupees at the box office in the first 10 days of its release. The film has also been a hit internationally, earning more on its 13th day than two major Bollywood films on their first day.
Indian journalist Komal Nahta shared on Twitter that Akshay Kumar’s Ram Setu and Sidharth Malhotra’s Thank God, which premiered on Diwali, fared well in India on account of the holiday but had poor returns overseas.
“Pakistani film The Legend of Maula Jatt on 13th day is higher than both Bollywood films on their 1st day,” Nahta said.
He then shared the box office figures of the films in Canada, London, and Australia.
“Canada, Tuesday, October 25, 13th day of The Legend of Maula Jatt: $31,183. Punjabi [film] Honeymoon: $20,923, Thank God: $ 14,444; and Ram Setu: $12,714.”
