‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ has been all the rage in Pakistan’s entertainment circles and beyond since the last month.
The film has earned raved reviews since its release while matching its performance at the box office, with the distributors saying that it has raked in more than Rs1 billion in receipts since its premiere on October 12.
After a long two-week wait since the film’s release, The Legend of Maula Jatt is finally screening at Karachi’s Nueplex and Arena cinemas.
The exhibitors confirmed the news on their social media handles.
“Dear Patrons, The Legend Of Maula Jatt will start screening on Thursday, October 27 at Nueplex Cinemas,” Nueplex shared on Wednesday. “Advance booking for the title will start from 8 pm today.”
The Arena Cinemas shared the news on their Instagram page, “Your Wait Is Finally OVER!! The Legend of Maula Jatt is being screened at The Arena. Getting a ticket is tough, but we’ll make sure you don’t miss this movie!”
The film was released worldwide in 500+ theaters across 25 countries on October 12 but surprisingly it was only being screened at a handful of theatres in Karachi and Lahore: Karachi’s Atrium and Capri cinemas and Lahore’s Cue Cinema.
They were missing from major multiplexes including Nueplex and Cinepax.
It led to such a strong reaction that the management of Nueplex issued a statement to clarify why it wasn’t screening the latest iteration of the classic
A reboot of Yunus Malik’s 1979 cult classic Maula Jatt, the film is a re-telling of the rivalry between the protagonist Maula Jatt and his rival Noori Natt. The film has faced several delays and is finally being released after production. Work on the movie began in 2017.
