Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa confirmed on Friday that he would retire on November 29, the last day of his second term as army chief.
The army chief met journalists after addressing the National Security workshop. He told the gathered journalists that he would not seek another extension - an issue that has dominated the airwaves for the last several months. “I will retire in five weeks.”
He also said that it was the last time he was addressing the National Security workshop.
The COAS had said on several previous occasions that he would retire at the end of his tenure and would not seek another extension.
