The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has said that the second phase of the Local Government Elections in Karachi will be held as per schedule on October 23.

It said that the date of the municipality election in Hyderabad Division would be announced later.

Meanwhile, the by-election in the NA-45 constituency of Kurram have been moved forward. “By-election in NA-45 Kuram will not be held on October 16,” said the electoral watchdog.

In all other constituencies, by-elections will be held as per schedule on October 16.

These include by-elections for the seats of NA-22 Mardan, NA-24 Charsadda, NA-31 Peshawar, NA-157 Multan, NA-108 Faisalabad, NA-118 Nankana Sahib, NA-237 Malir and NA-239 Korangi. Elections on three provincial seats, PP-139, PP-209 Khanewal and PP-24, are also scheduled for October 16.

The local body election as well as the by-elections have faced multiple delays due to the floods following monsoon.
