You must have seen the smorgasbord of memes populating your social media timeline over the last 12 hours focusing on ketchup, domestic bliss and what to seek in your soulmate.

We were equally stumped but basic sluething skills led us to the rib-tickling scene from a local drama serial that went viral after airing on an entertainment channel of the ARY Digital group last night.

The scene shows two parents, their son Amir and daughter-in-law Zoya sitting on a dinner. In the scene, Amir is getting a scolding from his parents for ordering pizzas on his mother’s credit card.

Zoya, who married her love interest after running away from home, is upset by the scolding. She gets up and takes a couple of pizza slices to leave the table and go to her room to avoid the tongue lashing.

Amir gets upset when he notices that Zoya stormed out of the room with a few slices of pizza but no ketchup.

“Ketchup bhi nahi leke gayi woh,” Amir says to his parents.

Social media was quick to run riot over this focus on ketchup, which emerged among the top trends on Pakistan Twitter. We can’t get enough of the memes and the commentary.

For many, ketchup was now the be all and end all of romance.

One amused user resorted to a popular meme to illustrate how ketchup is essential to survival.

Others pointed out what to look for in their prince charming.

Those of a cinematic bent went the extra mile.

As expected, there was some vernacular.

It seems like people enjoyed Zoya’s ketchup romance more than that of the leading couple, Ayesha and Basit.

The story of the serial “Habs” is also based on the general theme of Pakistani dramas, i.e. family problems.
