England offers to host future Pakistan-India Test series

England has offered to host future Pakistan-India test series, British newspaper The Telegraph reported on Tuesday.

Pakistan and India have not faced each other in a Test match in more than 15 years due to political tensions between the two arch rivals.

The report said that England Cricket Board’s (ECB) deputy chairman Martin Darlow talked to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) during the ongoing England T20I series in Pakistan and offered England venues for a potential three-match Test series in the future.

Darlow said that the matches would attract big crowds in the UK, which is home to a large Indian and Pakistani population.

The two countries play each other regularly in ICC and Asian events.

It reported that PCB is grateful for the ECB’s offer but is not keen on playing India at the moment at a neutral venue.

PCB is also trying to make cricket more inclusive as after a decade they persuaded teams to tour their own country. However, playing against India in bilateral series even at a neutral ground would mean approvals at various levels.
