Ishaq Dar to return to Pakistan on Tuesday

Former finance minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz senior leader Ishaq Dar will assume charge as the finance minister replacing Miftah Ismail.

Sources privy to the matter said that the decision to appoint Dar as the finance minister was taken in a meeting between PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in London.

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah confirmed the development during his press conference in Lahore earlier today saying that Dar would return to the country next week and would help to manage the country’s economic affairs in “better way”.

Sources said that it is likely that Dar could return with PM Shehbaz. However, final decision in this regard will be taken by senior party leadership, they added.

A day earlier, an accountability court had suspended arrest warrants against Dar saying that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had not raised any objection on the petition filed by the former finance minister.

The court said that it was giving chance to Ishaq Dar for surrender before it till October 7, after returning the home country. The arrest warrants against him would remain suspended till that time.
