Anwar Maqsood is tired of fake accounts in his name on social media

KARACHI: Celebrated humourist and author Anwar Maqsood has once again clarified that he has no social media accounts and that he has nothing do with any statements - against Imran Khan or otherwise - that often dominate social media.

“Often statements are made in my name against Imran Khan, the army or against the provincial chief minister. In every instance, I have had to call the people and clarify that I didn’t say it,” said Maqsood who is known for his wit and repartee.

The octogenarian, who is one of the most recognizable and respected faces in Pakistan’s literary and art circles, was at the Arts Council of Pakistan on Tuesday for an exhibition of the mini thesis of undergraduate students of the recently-constituted Arts Council Institute of Arts and Crafts.

The exhibit, which featured the works of eight students, is supported by the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture (IVS) and Iqra University. The exhibit showcased artwork depicted through photography and documentary on different topics.

Speaking after the exhibit, Anwar said that he was under a lot of stress due to the floods but was floored after seeing the quality of the artwork on display. “The works are so remarkable that one wouldn’t be able to guess that they have created by such young individuals.”

In these crucial times, we should not focus on politics, while urging people to contribute to flood relief efforts.

Professor Shahid Rassam, the principal of the Institute of Arts and Crafts, said that he was overwhelmed by the quality of the work and the effort of his students.
