Cricket aficionados are organizing match screenings in Karachi for the Pakistan and India fixture in the Asia Cup today (Sunday), the rivalry which is second to none in the shorter format of cricket like the one between Australia and England in Test matches.
But, some organisers are also raising funds in the event for the flood-hit people. More than 1,000 people have so far been killed in heavy rains and floods since June 14, said the National Disaster Management Authority data issued.
Pakistan and India, teams which are meeting after the T20I match in 2021, would have their maiden matches today in Dubai. Rohit Sharma-led, the reigning champions, in a press conference said they have learnt from their previous loss to Pakistan but playing their arch-rivals in the mega event match would be a challenge.
Below is the list of venues in Karachi’s DHA to watch the match:
The first one on the list is the event titled ‘Fundraiser: Match Screening for Flood Victims’ organised by the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture.
“All proceeds will be donated to charitable organisations by Rahnuma,” it said in a Facebook post.
Habib Cooking Oil has set up the match screening at the Pakistan American Cultural Center, Cantt, Clifton. Gates will open at 6pm.
Here, the screening would start at 6:30pm.
Swadish restaurant is another area on the list. The address is Bara Bukhari Commercial lane 10, Karachi.
“Tomorrow at 7:00 PM it’s PAKISTAN vs INDIA. Make sure you are ready for the perfect match night,” wrote the Daily Dubai Restaurant on the eve of the match in an Instagram post.
Steamin’ coffee in a social media post invited all the cricket fans today.
The price of the ticket was over Rs5,000 in Big Tree House.
