Shahbaz Gill’s phones to be sent for forensic test: police

ISLAMABAD: The cellular and satellite phones recovered from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shehbaz Gill in a raid on Monday night will be sent for a forensic test, police said on Tuesday.

The law enforcement agency had recovered the phones as well as a pistol, two CNICs and as many passports from Gill’s chamber in the Parliament Lodges during the raid.

The PTI leader is currently facing a case for sedition and inciting public against state institutions.

According to police, the process of verifying the ownership of the pistol is in progress. “A case can be registered against the PTI leader for not providing a license for the same,” they told Aaj News.

The raid was carried out hours after a district and sessions court granted police two-day physical remand of the accused. It also asked the LEA to produce him before the court on August 24.

’Oblivious Gill

“I had left my purse in the car,” Gill who is the chief of staff of party’s chairman Imran Khan, told reporters after the raid. “I don’t know how it got here. My driver used to carry the purse.”

The PTI leader was also oblivious to the gun found in his room, saying it was under the possession of the security guard. “Things are also altered in my room, this means someone was here.”

Gill further said that all he had was an AK-47 rifle, for which he had a licence.
