PTI provincial leader shot dead by estranged husband in Quetta

QUETTA: Nargis Mengal, a local leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in Balochistan, was gunned down on Sariab Road in the provincial capital Saturday.

Mengal was shot dead while waiting for transport at the Sariab Road, a little distance from her residence. She was headed to court for legal proceedings against her husband, from whom she had separated, over a property dispute.

The victim had been living with her brothers for over a year.

Police say that the victim’s estranged husband Ataullah, along with an accomplice, shot her dead. Police shifted the body to the hospital for medico-legal formalities after which it was handed over to the heirs. A case has been filed and FIR registered on the complaint of the victim’s brother.

The victim had four children, three of whom were murdered under gruesome circumstances in March last year. The sole survivor of the maniacal episode was one daughter, who was living with her father.

During investigations, it was found that the couple’s driver, one Kumqutullah, slaughtered the children following a dispute with the victim.

In March last year, the victim’s driver slaughtered two sons and two sons, three were killed and one daughter was seriously injured.
