Court turns down lawyer’s request to meet Shahbaz Gill

ISLAMABAD: A local court in Islamabad rejected the plea of Shahbaz Gill’s lawyer Faisal Chaudhry to meet his client for legal matters.

Police said on Thursday that PTI leader Shahbaz Gill, who was remanded to police custody a day earlier, confessed to making statements against the army.

The pointperson of PTI chief Imran Khan was arrested in dramatic circumstances on Tuesday, when law enforcers in plain clothes along with Islamabad police accosted his vehicle at a little distance from Imran’s Banigala residence on Tuesday.

Following the hearing, his lawyer said Gill had informed the court that his life could be under threat if he was handed over to the police on physical remand.

Police have since arrested Gill’s driver’s wife and his brother-in-law.

Sources within Islamabad police say that the driver was believed to be in possession of Gill’s primary phone. Gill’s Twitter account is still active and the police believe that Gill’s primary phone is being used for that purpose.
