Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the government decided in principle to submit a declaration to Supreme Court following the verdict by the Election Commission of Pakistan in the PTI prohibited funding case.
“Ministry of Law and Justice, after reviewing all legal aspects, will present the declaration in next cabinet meeting,” the minister said while briefing the media regarding the decision taken in the Federal cabinet in Islamabad on Thursday.
Aurangzeb said that the ECP verdict revealed that money kept coming in the name of Imran Khan’s employees and was not declared.
“This is a matter of law and order, not political rivalries. Sixteen accounts were not declared which were opened in the name of senior PTI leadership, including Imran Khan,” she added.
Aurangzeb said that the cabinet directed the FIA to launch an investigation on the aspects of money laundering, fake accounts, misappropriation of funds and use of charity money.
“Representatives from State Bank of Pakistan, FBR, FIA and other financial institutions will be part of the investigation team,” the information minister said.
