Court orders release of PTI’s Haleem Adil Sheikh

KARACHI: An Anti-Corruption Court in Karachi Thursday ordered the release of PTI leader and Opposition Leader in Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh in a corruption case filed against him.

According to details, the anti-corruption court ordered relevant authorities to release Sheikh in a case related to land grabbing in Karachi’s Malir district.

The court also ordered the Sindh Opposition Leader to submit a surety bond of Rs50,000.

It is pertinent to mention here that Haleem went to an anti-corruption court in Jamshoro yesterday, however, the ACE team arrested him from outside the premises.

He was later shifted to Karachi by the anti-corruption establishment (ACE) team and a land case had been lodged against him.

Later on Wednesday, Sheikh was shifted to Aziz Bhatti police station in Karachi by the ACE team.

Earlier, Sheikh also appeared before the provincial anti-corruption court to defend the allegations of raising a loan from a bank on the basis of fake property documents.

During today’s hearing, Shiekh’s counsel, Advocate Javed Altaf maintained that Sindh High Court has barred the police to arrest his client, saying that the case against the PTI leader was 33 years old and it was merely a political victimization

On the other hand, the Sindh High Court has issued notices to Chief Secretary and Anti Corruption officials on a contempt of Court plea submitted by Haleem Adil Sheikh and sought a reply by August 4.
