Court adjourns hearing against PTI leaders for violation of code of conduct

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court stopped the Election Commission from taking action against former Prime Minister Imran Khan and former Minister Asad Umar till August 22 on the issue of violation of the Code of Conduct.

Acting Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court Aamer Farooq heard the case, however, PTI’s lawyer Ali Zafar could not appear at the hearing.

The assistant counsel told the court that Ali Zafar was busy in the Lahore High Court and could not appear.

The court adjourned the hearing and stopped the Election Commission from taking action against Imran Khan and Asad Umar till August 22.

Previously, the Election Commission had issued notices to Imran Khan and Asad Umar for holding rallies during the KP local government elections. Both PTI leaders had challenged the notices of the Election Commission in the Islamabad High Court.
