Top headlines: Electricity price hike, Shireen Mazari bedroom bugged

  • Nepra has requested permission to increase the basic rate for electricity by Rs7.91 which the federal government will hear tomorrow. This includes a proposal for K-Electric to increase its price Rs3.50 from August.
  • Aamir Liaquat Postmortem Case: A judicial magistrate allowed the burial, argued lawyer Zia Awan. The police did not record the actual cause of death, replied the government lawyer. A court has decided to hear arguments on why a post mortem should not be done. The next hearing is July 28.

  • Quetta: Some men have opened fire at car showroom on Airport Road, damaging eight vehicles.
  • The dollar’s price has gone up Rs1.81 in the interbank market and is being traded at Rs 217
  • Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has demanded that the Election Commission pronounce a decision on the PTI foreign funding case soon.
  • PTI has declared the by-election in Punjab to be fair and transparent, but at the same time, Imran Khan has called the Chief Election Commissioner dishonest and demanded his resignation. The PML-N has rejected Imran Khan’s criticism and said that the transparency of the by-election is in front of everyone. Maryam Nawaz said that Imran Khan’s real fear is the decision in the foreign funding case.
